Not just a ‘coach’
I am a fully qualified coach and coaching supervisor, spending the best part of £14k+ in training, memberships, personal supervision, CPD and ongoing coaching for my own development. The word ‘Coach’ means nothing these days as everyone and their dog are called coaches – diet coach, fitness coach, archery coach, work coach, job coach, singing coach, social media coach…. So to minimise the years of training in a word that no longer encapsulates everything it should in the profession, I’ve stop using it. Not the skills, the word. Hello Becky J Field!
At the age of 16, after GCSE’s, it was evident for me that a portfolio route was where I would excel in academia. I have my sister to thank for the exam prep a**e-kicking that let me to get the much needed results to NEVER sit an exam again! At 50, I don’t intend to start now.
ICF. In order for me to have ACC, PCC or MCC after my name on LI, I need to have PROVEN, I can coach using a specific framework. I need to be able to tick the right boxes, within a given time frame. After £1.5K spent on mentor coaching it became clear that after 8 years, I coach and supervise very differently int he way that I was trained with The British School of Coaching.
I also need to be able to sit in a room, as an adult, with nothing in it, and sit, an exam. One woman I coached told me she wasn’t even allowed to have a tissue when she was streaming with a cold and had to use her sleeve as a handkerchief…. at 50 years old?. Not only that, this needs to be repeated every 2 years and we have the privilege of paying for that all over again!
Rest assured, after over 500+ hours of coaching, I have everything in place for me to coach people ethically, safely and in a highly skilled way that works with individuals without using a cookie cut approach or a checklist. I will continue to do this moving forward with a incredible supervisors in all my modalities.
As I have always done, I adhere to the EMCC Global Code of Ethics as a member. It is a not for profit organisation and shows upmost respect to its members.
60 second pitches should be banned.
For 9 years I have tried, and failed to articulate what coaching is and how it impacts people. I don’t know how to say ‘coaching changed my life, and it can for you too’ within a 60 second pitch in a room of disinterested people who are genuinely thinking about their own pitch.
The most soul destroying thing about running a business for a neurodiverse person is the lack of interest or engagement at formal networking.
Give me 30 minutes to show you the impact, no problem. I have so much confidence in not only the power of coaching and my incredible skill that you will have no room to doubt!
And yes, I have had coaching for it and endless BNI CEU’s…… (Don’t judge me)
I am so much more than a coach!
When someone comes to me for help. I open up my huge display of skills, achievements, life’s learnings and experience to work with each individual. I use all that I have, the profiling, the creativity, the silence, the mentoring, the teaching, the demonstrating – all of it. I work with them. In tune with them.

So now, I choose to do things differently, I am a creative, an artist, combining talking therapies with new ways of working, I am a profiler who lays the foundation on which everyone can build their own life structure. I bring everything to my work, not just my coaching skills.
