If you are still with me, I thank you! I am so glad that you are here.

Today I start a new chapter. One, I am naming Chapter 50/20. 50 years old and 20 years sober.

As ever, an anniversary or big birthday of sorts always brings about a period of reflection and these last 2 months have been just that.

A period of ‘noise’ fatigue and a good dose of ‘what the hell am I doing’ has led me back to where I originally started in my business. Looking after those fragile, busy minds through creative coaching and mentoring.

When I started my business, I knew I wanted freedom, I knew I wanted to make my own decisions and choices and create a business that worked for me. The idea of working with people who, like me, had experienced burnout and other difficulties and who really wanted to recreate a life on their terms.

For 2 years, I did just that, but honestly, I was playing at being a business owner. I was having an incredible amount of fun and making some money.

Then, I jumped on the ‘It’s not a business, it’s a hobby’ train, and I started to hustle. I started to do ALL the courses, All the challenges, sign up to every guru’s email lists, and slowly, bit by bit, I started to lose myself again.

I started to get lost in becoming someone who strived for so much more, believing it would make all the difference and then they would really be ‘successful’ business owner.

And it worked. Of course it did.

But to what cost?

Fatigue

Exhaustion

Sleepless Nights

Comparison

Resentment

Disillusionment

So, when someone asked me a few weeks ago, What would you do if you started again?

The answer was easy. To go back to finding joy in my work, working with people with busy minds and who needed time out to just stop, create, rest and give themselves time to regroup.

Silencing the mental chatter helps us to truly focus on what we want. Turning down the volume of the ‘shoulds’ or ‘ought to’s’ means that we start to remember what we wanted in the first place.

If, like me, you wanted freedom from the ‘hustle’ or bullying behaviour and closed mentality of previous employment, then we owe it to ourselves to take time to stop.

It is long overdue.

I would love to know if, and how, you are managing to silence the mental chatter. Drop me a comment below or please DM me… I know I can help!
